India Vs New Zealand T20I series was a rain drenched series all together. The first match of the series was washed over while the second one was a one sided win for India.
Indian team looked with a new approach as the captain of the team Hardik Pandya brought a fresh mentality which was lacking in T20Is mostly. Despite a new capatin batting unit didn’t impress much in the second match.
Suryakumar Yadav is the backbone of the T20I team as he is performing in most matches. Other batters lacked despite the opportunity which was in favor of them. SKY scored his second T20I hundred with a similar attacking fashion.
India has to come with a different approach as T20I is a short and attacking form of cricket. The menatility has to change. The current setup has a number of players who can be backed and make ready for the upcoming T20 WorldCup. This series has been a touch up to that.
Rishabh Pant who has been in the contention of opening slot for a long time has got the opportunity but he couldn’t deliver he was paired with left-handed batter Ishan Kishan who performed decently. Shreyas Iyer got opportunity over Wicket-Keeper batter Sanju Samson even he couldn’t deliver.
New Zealand on the other hand couldn’t really play well they lost the second T20I one sided where batters were not up to the mark ,Captain Kane Williamson batted long but his concerns over strike rate remains constant.
In form Openers Finn Allen and Devon Conway also couldn’t contribute much and the middle order collapsed too. Final T20I saw Tim Southee as the leader where Kane was not part of the match reason still a bit of mystery.
This series is mostly washed off in rain because India vs New Zealand 3rd and final T20I got affected by rain and India lost wickets while chasing too. Indian bowlers performed well throughout the series and mostly in today’s final one.
Arshdeep singh and Siraj bowled a fantastic spell to knockout the Kiwi batters. We hope this team does well in the upcoming assignments and change the approach of the play soon. Both the teams are on a bit of transition period in this format of the game and we might see a bit of change on both the sides in the near future.
India vs New Zealand ODI series is up next. We will watch and see how the visitors playthe hosts.
