Brazillan star Marcelinho Leite is now a Mariner

After A-League star, Brad Inman failed to show up for the Green and Maroons in the on-going Hero Indian Super League, Antonio Lopez Habas’ ATK Mohun Bagan has negotiated with Odisha FC for a swap deal. And guess what, this swap deal may result in a game changer for the Mariners. Yes, it’s non other than Odisha FC’s Brazillian playmaker and Hero ISL star, Marcelinho.

Marcelinho, whose story in the on-going season is pretty similar to that of Brad Inman’s has signed for ATK Mohun Bagan and will be seen in the Green and Maroon jersey for the rest of the season. Under coach Stuart Baxter, Marcelinho failed to prove his worth as he has got zero goals and assists for his name which is quite pathetic for a player of his calibre. Today was Marcelinho’s first practice session in the historic jersey and the fans are pretty excited to see him play for their side.

Antonio Lopez Habas is also delighted to have him in his side regardless of his performance this season. Tactical analysts concluded that Marcelinho didn’t fit Baxter’s system. But, they also think that he may prove to be an asset for his new side as coach Habas has got two options to make his skills worthy for the team. One can be, Marcelinho may be seen playing in the place of Edu Garcia as a False-9 otherwise, the second option will be, he may be seen starting as a Second Striker to Roy Krishna.

Atleast, this for sure that, Habas will be focusing on his playmaking skills more than his ability to score. Also, he might become the new set-piece taker for the side as a replacement of Javi Hernandez in that role. Afterall, it doesn’t matter how has been the season for him, Marcelinho’s set-pieces can always end up in the form a nightmare for his oppositions.

On the other hand, coach Baxter might be using Brad Inman as a perfect withdrawal mid for his side because of Inman’s better than average work rate in order to close the frequent gaps which is quite often in Odisha’s midfield this season. These gaps ensure the oppositions to launch a counter-attack and make it count.

Well, on summing up, it’s pretty clear that, both the players will try to prove their worth for their new respective teams but on comparing, Marcelinho is definitely having a higher probability to prove is worth and hopefully this time, he will not let this opportunity go away just like that.
