Dele Alli made a surprise start to Spurs’ Europa League fixture against Wolfsberger AC as he scored one goal and bagged two assists in a 4-0 win.
Tottenham midfielder, Dele Alli came to the rescue of the team in a pitiful 2021 season that is going haywire for them. He started, only to score a fantastic overhead kick in the 10th minute of the game. And later, supplied Carlos Vinicius with an inch-perfect cross at the back post who headed it home to make it 2-0. In the 73rd minute, Alli again set up substitute Gareth Bale with sublime through-pass just outside the box, who curled it into the top left corner with one touch.
Mourinho had a talk with Alli apparently.
“We had a difficult period, he had an injury and at the same time talk, talk, talk about staying or leaving.”
“The goal was beautiful, but the meaning of the assists and hard work for team means more to me. That work of continuity in the performance is what makes me really happy.”
Alli’s first goal was a thing of beauty. Doherty had angled a cross into the middle of the box to Dele. Dele took it out of the air at the perfect time with a fine touch. His second touch was even better than the first one as he smashed his foot into the ball, bashing it into the top left corner. The goalkeeper could not do much except stumble and fall, trying to save the cannonball.
Tottenham’s Twitter account went crazy with that overhead kick.
90 minutes later, Tottenham emerged victorious as goals from Dele Alli, Gareth Bale and a brace from Carlos Vinicius put them further into the Europa League. They are yet to know who they will face in the next stage of the league.
