Esports India, who have been a prominent member of the Global Esports Federation concluded it’s first ever football freestyle competition in collaboration with Football Freestyle India which was aired live on YouTube and Facebook on 13th December, 2020.
This competition attracted over 300 participants from all across the country to showcase their hidden talent, no matter whether they were amateurs or professionals and out of them, 100 athletes got selected. The preliminary qualification round was played on 11th and 12th of December, 2020. For the finale, 6 freestylers made it to the top and battled on 13th December, 2020.
Esports India President, Amit Gaikwad qouted, “The success of the first ever online freestyle football competition was overwhelming and extremely encouraging. The talent of these freestylers were of truly international levels. We are optimistic about the future of eSports India and are looking forward for a revolution in sports.”
India’s top football freestyler Archis Patil, along with other prolific names from the circuit had joined the esteemed team of judges for this competition. Alankar Timber and Monish Nikam who also hold a world record conferred by the Guinness World Book of Records are lending their expertise and encouragement to all the athletes taking part making the event the first of its kind.
All the participants were awarded participation certificates, with the winners going away with cash prizes, medals and lots of confidence and encouragement. To sum it up, the competition was a big success as it created a solid foundation for more such freestyling tournaments to take place and promote the sport on a much larger scale in the country.
Indian football freestyle ace, Archish Patil said, “The talent that India shows in freestyle football is promising on a global scale. Talent just needs the right platform that gives justice to their passion and that’s
what ESPORTS INDIA has provided. We are sure to have many more freestyle stars in the upcoming years.” The competition is an extension of the mission started by the Global Esports Federation of trying to develop a community for esports in India, so as to encourage more and more athletes to take part and in turn become a part of a thriving global community.
