With the 7th edition of Hero Indian Super League just a few weeks away from kickoff, Northeast United FC have started gearing up for the next season. To Bolster their attack the Highlanders have acquired the services of former Guinean international Idrissa Sylla.
The Guinean striker started his career with French 3rd division club Le Mans FC and making a total of 52 appearances and scoring 14 goals between 2010 and 2013. In 2011 he was loaned out to another French side SC Bastia in which he found the back of the net 7 times in 27 appearances.
The 29 year then moved to Belgium and represented Zulte Waregem and Anderlecht in 3 seasons making 50 plus appearances and scoring 17 goals for both the clubs.
His next spell saw him moving to England to represent Queen Park Rangers. He has 61 caps and 17 goals in the English second division for The Superhoops.
Idrissa Sylla then returned to Belgium and joined his former side Zulte Wargem in 2019. In his second spell with the Belgian club he made 18 appearances and scored 3 goals. He was loaned out to another Belgian top division club Oostende for the remainder of the season and he scored 2 goals in 10 appearances.
On the International front, Idrissa Sylla has 27 caps and 5 goals for his National team. He was a part of the Squad that took part in Africa Cup of Nations in 2015.
Standing tall at 6’2 feet the Target Man is proven goalscorer and an Aerial threat for the opposition. He comes in with tons of quality experience under his belt and that comes in as an added advantage for the Highlanders.
Idrissa Sylla is referred to as Waddle due to him possessing a similar style of play to Chris Waddle.
