The Dream 11 Indian Premier League 2020, which was held in the United Arab Emirates behind closed-doors during to the pandemic outbreak, finally comes to an end with defending champions, Mumbai Indians clinching their fifth title.
But, as soon as the IPL 2020 reached its end, rumours regarding IPL 2021 has started spreading like forest-fire. As per the sources, the rumour is that, IPL 2021 may be played with nine times. Reports say, the new franchise will be from Gujarat, specifically Ahmedabad.
After the Ahmedabad stadium was announced as the largest cricket stadium in the world, BCCI has taken the decision that, the biggest stadium can’t be left just like that. So, in order to let the Ahmedabad stands witness some live cricketing action, a new Gujarat franchise will be made and for that, BCCI might be hosting an IPL auction which is sought to be for IPL 2021.
Now it can be a mega auction or a mini auction. This auction will not only help to make up the team for the new Gujarat franchise for IPL 2021 but also will provide room for the other franchises to alter the teams for the next season. Amongst all, Chennai Super Kings is expected to go through a quite required alteration process after their surprising exit from the IPL 2020 without even reaching the playoffs.
Infact, another question which readily adds up to the miseries of cricket fans across the country is that, how can IPL 2021 be played with an odd sum of teams? Does that mean another team that is a tenth team will also be added to the festival of cricket? Well, the answers to these questions are expected by the end of this year. Predominantly, just like the old franchise Gujrat Lions, Suresh Raina is in talks to captain the new Gujarat franchise.
Till now, no other reports are available from the sources and the only job we can do is to wait for any further announcements that is expected to be made by BCCI soon.
