Real Madrid is in disarray after Zinedine Zidane announces his resignation as head coach for the Los Blancos. However, Pochettino, currently coaching PSG, seems to be at the top of Madrid’s radar for the managerial post
Having gone trophyless this season, and tired of having to deal with events outside of his control, Zidane officially quit his managerial post. And this finds Real Madrid in the market with Mauricio Pochettino their top target this summer. Zidane had a year on his contract left, but constant woes forced the coach to depart early.
It is understood that Allegri was the previous choice for head coach initially, but after Juventus swooped down on their former coach, Massimiliano is out of the question.
Pochettino immediately became their priority thereafter. There are other options that Madrid seem to be considering, namely their legend Raul and Antonio Conte, who shocked Inter Milan by resigning as their coach after their league win.
But what complicates things, is Pochettino’s current contract which is yet to be completed; a whole year being left, through to the summer of 2022. Not only that, Pochhettino has other suitors in store, with his former club Tottenham looking to secure him as well, as confirmed by Goal.
Mauricio did mention that coaching Real Madrid would make a dream come true for him. Talks have been planned between his and Madrid’s representatives, so it is only a matter of time before Pochettino decides on his future.
