On 6th September 2020 , Hero Indian Super League Club Odisha Fc celebrated it’s first foundation day via video conferencing.
The Bhubaneswar based club was constituted on 31st August.Mr. Sumit Pandey, OSD -Special Projects, Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha and Mr. Avijit Paul, Joint Secretary,Football Association of Odisha (FAO) had part taken in the virtual celebration held.
The head coach Mr. Stuart Baxter, Head of football Operations Mr .Abhik Chatterjee , Club director Ashok Bajaj ,Head of Finance Mr. Ajit Panda , other staffs of various departments were present ad the honorary Club President Mr Rohan Sharma moderated the meeting.
Odisha FC’s India international star Vinit Rai and Local lad Shubham Sarangi were also present during the online meet and spoke about their amazing one-year journey with OFC and their aims and aspirations for upcoming season.
One of the club’s new recruits George D’Souza also spoke about how excited he is to play in the ISL for OFC. Some members of the club’s fan group – The Juggernauts were also present during the online session on Sunday.
Speaking on the completion of first year of OFC, Mr. Sumit Pandey said, “On behalf of each and everyone at the Sports and Youth Services Department, I would like to congratulate Odisha FC its first year. It has been an incredible start for the Club.”
“We are truly excited not only for the upcoming ISL football action but also the development of the football ecosystem that is going to shape up the future of
the sport in Odisha. All the very best to each and everyone at Odisha FC.”
The head coach Mr Baxter in his part spoke about the aspirations , his visions regarding the club and their objectives for the upcoming season and elucidated on their doctrines of promoting young and budding talents. In his speech he also mentioned how the club shall continue to strive towards betterment and give their very best in the coming years and that he looks forward to have a close knit and warm connection with the fans and community in Odisha
Among the concluding speech Mr Rohan Sharma put forward and highlighted the club’s doctrine of promoting young and budding talent. Mr Chatterjee’s vote of thanks marked the end of the virtual celebration.
