PUBG Mobile, Free Fire nominated as eSports Game of the Year

The eSports awards is an award ceremony that is held every year.

It highlights/showcases the best personalities, teams and games of that particular year. Esports, especially in the mobile gaming industry, has seen a huge growth in the past few years and is still growing day by day.

It’s five categories in 2021:


This year the eSports Awards has five categories :-

  • eSports Apparel of the Year
  • eSports Content Creator of the Year
  • eSports Mobile Game of the Year presented by Verizon
  • eSports Personality of the Year
  • eSports Streamer of the Year

eSports Mobile Game of the Year:

The eSports Mobile Game of the Year category was introduced in 2020. This year players are thrilled to find that two of the their most favourite battle royale games. PUBG Mobile and Free Fire, are in the list of nominations.

PUBG MOBILE is a Battle Royale mobile game created independently by Lightspeed & Quantum Studios of Tencent Game, officially licensed by PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. It was released globally in March 2018. Built with Unreal Engine 4, PUBG MOBILE focuses on visual quality, maps, shooting experience, and other aspects. It provides an all-rounded surreal Battle Royale experience to players.

Free Fire:


Garena Free Fire is a battle royale game, developed by 111 Dots Studio and published by Garena for Android and iOS. It became the most downloaded mobile game globally in 2019. The game received the award for the “Best Popular Vote Game” by the Google Play Store in 2019. As of May 2020, Free Fire has set a record with over 80 million daily active users globally.

Both the mobile games are immensely popular with a large audience worldwide that spread to over a million.

Revenue generated by both the games:


PUBG Mobile gathered around $2.7 billion from player spending in 2020 with revenue touching as high as $300 million in March. According to Sensor Tower reports, PUBG Mobile maintained it’s position as the second highest earning mobile game worldwide for the month of April 2021, raking in $237.7 million.

Free Fire had generated approximately around $100 million in revenue in the last quarter of 2020. And as per the Sensor Tower in the first quarter of 2021. Free Fire surpassed PUBG Mobile as the highest earning battle royale game in the United States of America. Free Fire generated a total revenue of $100 million in the first quarter of 2021. This is a jump of 4.5 percent from what it generated in the first quarter of 2020.

Nominations:


The battle between Free Fire and PUBG Mobile continues to heat up in the eSports Awards 2021 nominations. Both games are immensely popular with millions of players worldwide. These two games surely brewing up a great head-to-head fight giving the other game absolutely no chance to snatch the award. Also, another report from the Sensor Tower, showed that Free Fire overtook PUBG Mobile as the top battle royale mobile game in the United States of America due to the players spending in the first quarter of the year 2021.

Apart from PUBG Mobile and Free Fire, Call of Duty : Mobile is also nominated for the same category at the eSports Awards 2021. Other games that are selected in the eSports Mobile Game of the Year category are:
