Sri Lankan head coach Mickey Arthur and batsman Lahiru Thirimanne test positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. They have been discovered infected after the PSR checks on Tuesday.
Sri Lankan batsman Lahiru Thirimanne came back to his form in the second innings of the 1st test against England where he scored a century against England and in the 2nd test he scored 43 in the 1st innings although Sri Lanka was whitewashed.This finally offered them a hope and a possibility of winning the series against West Indies after being whitewashed by South Africa and England. But the series is postponed because Sri Lankan batsman Lahiru Thirimanne and Sri lankan Head coach Mickey Arthur tested COVID-19 positive on Wednesday.
Immediately upon recognition Mickey Arthur and Lahiru Thirimanne have been directed to obey the authorities protocol provided on COVID-19.
There were a total of 36 member group commenced practices on 28th January and were divided into three different teams and had different schedules which is to be kept under precautionary measures.
Sri Lanka was supposed to play two tests, three ODIs and three T20 International matches.Considering the current state of affairs,SLC is exploring the probability of rescheduling the tour of West Indies which was supposed to begin on 20th February.It was supposed to be the first international match which is to be played in the caribbean after the COVID-19 outbreak.
Thirimanne confirmed that he has examined positive for the virus but he is an asymptomatic Covid patient. He tweeted “zero symptoms”.
