Post Barcelona’s embarassing 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich back in August 2020, the former La Liga Champions were undergoing a tough time as Lionel Messi expressed his desire to bring an end to his Barcelona Career.
Fortunately, the Argentine great changed his decision to leave the club and decided to see out the last year in his contract with the Blaugrana Giants. But, his best friend both on and off the pitch Luis Suarez’s contract was terminated as new Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman did not count on him.
The summer of 2020 saw Luis Suarez join Atletico Madrid who took advantage of the situation and landed the Uruguayan. Luis Suarez’s transfer took the footballing circuit by shock and the assumption, mostly from online speculations suggested that the Barcelona handed Luis Suarez to Atletico for free.
But, recently many media outlets have outlined the fee that Barcelona recieved for Suarez. Atletico signed the Uruguayan target man for €11 million, €5 million upfront and €6 million in add ons.
Luis Suarez was against any transfer fee but Atletico paid Barcelona the fee to be in their good books.
