UAE thrash India 6-0 in the most forgettable tie for Stimac’s side of recent times

The big gulf between Indian Super League and International football got unveiled on Monday night after United Arab Emirates thrashed India 6-0 in an International friendly in Dubai.

After being able to secure a 1-1 draw against Oman in the previous International friendly, the Blue Tigers got on to the pitch with a high morale. But, their high morale didn’t last long as Ali Mabkhout opened the scoring for UAE in the 12th minute. Just after 20 minutes of breaking the deadlock, Ali Mabkhout doubled their lead as he was able to find the back of the net from the spot after UAE were awarded a penalty when Fabio Lima’s shot hit Adil Khan’s hand inside the 18 yard-box.

After India were denied a couple of good attempts, the Blue Tigers were 2-0 down at the end of first half. As soon as the second half kicked off, India were trying their best to make a comeback but everytime, UAE’s rock-solid defense line did their job pretty well. In the 60th minute, India’s all hopes were thrashed by the same man Ali Mabkhout as he netted his hat-trick goal.

After that, it seemed like the Blue Tigers had already loosened their grip as UAE went on to score thrice in the next 25 minutes. As soon as the final whistle was blown, it felt like a landslide had just occurred as the score board read, ‘INDIA 0-6 UAE.’

Many eminent personalities have criticised India’s pathetic performance. It seems like the World Cup dreams of India are just a dream for now and still a lot of development is needed in Indian football to reach new heights at the International level.
