The 30 year old Bosnian Enes Sipovic centre back joins Indian Super League outfit Chennaiyin FC from the Qatari top flight side Umm Salal SC and in the process becomes the first Bosnian to try his luck here in India.
Enes Sipovic was Born on the 11th of September 1990 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He spent his youth career at Zeljeznicar Sarajevo FC, a Bosnian based club, from 2006 to 2009. Then in 2009 he moved to Romania to play for Otelul Galati.
He stayed with the club for the next 6 years, between this spell he also moved to 2 other Romanian clubs for one year each, before he finally parted ways with the club in 2015 and joined another Romanian club Westerlo.
Unfortunately, his spell with Westerlo didn’t go too well as he showed up for the club on only 11 occasions before leaving for Ittihad Tanger FC in Morocco, thus ending his reign in Romania.
He then played for Ittihad Tanger for the next 2 years. After that, amidst the next 3 years, he failed to prove his loyalty to the clubs he played for as between 2017 and 2020, he joined for 5 different club, with the latest of them being Chennaiyin FC. In this span of 3 years, he played in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar and Saudi Arabia and now he is here in India.
On an International level, he has represented the Bosnia and Herzegovina U-21 team on 15 occasions, but could never make it to the first team..
Now with him joining the Marina Machans, he has taken the responsibility of the teams defense and the job of keeping the back 4 intact. He also has a great and unique style of play, after playing all these years in different countries, including Asian ones.
Enes Sipovic also has an impressive height of 6’6, which is something great for a centre back, as he can easily win aerial balls and also the height factor creates a bit of mental pressure on the striker facing him. Thus he is one of the player’s to watch out for this season, and is well and truly the one to be afraid of if you are playing against him.
