A bad day at the office for the NorthEast United as they taste their first defeat this season after enjoying a 6 matches undefeated run.

Gerard Nus made just two changes two his side with Kwesi Appiah and Rochherzela coming in to Machado and Suhair respectively.
Owen Coyle on the other hand brought in Isaac and Aniket for Monroy and Williams respectively.

Northeast United FC kicked off the 500th Hero ISL game and started pretty well and had the chance to dominate the scoreline when Sylla beautifully controlled the ball through his chest and created a chance for Kwesi but the Ghanaian’s shot went wide in the 18th minute.

Northeast United were awarded a set piece following a handball by Hartley just outside the box and Kwesi Appiah found the side netting from the free-kick.
Alex Lima found Eze in the final third who missed the target by inches and both the teams went into the dressing on level terms.

Six minutes into thehe second half and the Highlanders won another free-kick near the box and this time it was Idrissa Sylla who hit the crossbar through his left foot.

Minutes later, Jamshedpur’s counter attack was spot on as they caught the Highlanders backline in a bad position and Aniket did ever so well to score his second Hero ISL goal in what a landmark day for the league.

The young Indian forward gained confidence and went on to make a fabulous run from the midfield to the final third and even released a shot but was unlucky to miss the target. Moments later, Northeast responded through a lightning fast counter attack and Idrissa Sylla did set up a chance for Luis Machado who’s attempt was stopped was Peter Hartley.

Gerard Nus’s men kept pushing for the equaliser and were awarded a spot kick following a foul on Benjamin Lambot by Eze. Idrissa stepped up to take the spot kick but Rehenesh had different plans as he denied his former side a very important equaliser.

The following corner saw Khassa Camara missing the target by the slightest of margins. Jamshedpur came forward with Jackichand Singh releasing an unexpected shot for Northeast United FC defense that hit the woodwork and the ball bounced back into play.

The closing stages of the match saw some real end to end action as both the sides kept knocking at each other’s door but it was Jamshedpur FC who came out on top and handed Northeast United their first defeat of the season.

Hero of the match : Peter Hartley

The Englishman stood tall against a tough a Northeast United and led his side by an example. He organized the backline that had everything to deny Northeast a goal in the 500th game.
