Wriddhiman Saha: Was the 1st test vs Australia his last test for India?

As we approach closer to the boxing day test between India and Australia, the memories of the first test are still haunting the fans all over the country.

Wriddhiman Saha attempts to sweep the ball

India was thrashed by the Aussie pacers in the second innings as they scored their lowest test score ever which is 36-9 (Mohammed Shami retired hurt). After that, the sports column of various Indian dailies were stormed down by top journalists of the country criticising BCCI and the players. But, the saga has taken a new turn because as per a leading newspaper, Wriddhiman Saha’s test career has ended.

BCCI has stamped him as a strict no-no for the test team. Now, one can say, Wriddhiman Saha got out while trying to play an unwanted shot which he shouldn’t have played in context to the team’s situation. But then, why only he will be penalised? The whole team performed pathetic. Well, worse than that.

Then, why only one player has to suffer? The team selection committee scrutinised a team which got out for 36. Prithvi Shaw, namely the next “SACHIN TENDULKAR” scored a total of 4 runs in two innings. Shouldn’t he be penalised for the same? Virat Kohli has returned to India on paternal leave. But, doesn’t he also deserves the same as Wriddhiman Saha?

A player like Karun Nair who scored a triple ton against England in his debut test and then, scoring 71 runs in 4 innings made BCCI drop him forever from the team. He last represented India in 2017. Shouldn’t he have been more useful than Prithvi? Infact, India’s captain for the rest of the series failed to show his worth in the second innings and for the timing, leave the fact that he scored 42 in the first innings.

If a team like India scores just 36 and infact not only India, if a cricket team gets out for 36 in international cricket, then, it can’t be the fault of just one player. It seems like that the politics of mid 90s has returned and the Indian team needs an immediate change of scene otherwise, the conditions seem to be worsening day-by-day.
