1. Lautaro Martinez: He was one of Barca’s top priorities in the summer but Barca failed to negotiate a deal with Inter for the young Argentine. He would be the ideal replacement for El Pistolero. He is a player who is not just a finisher but also a great passer. He has been one of the main players at Inter under Antonio Conte and has been equally impressive when playing for the Argentina National Team. Barca should really go all out to sign him.
2. Dayot Upamecano: Undoubtedly the best young centre back in the world, Upamecano’s reputation has taken a meteoric rise after his brilliant defensive showings in the UCL last season. He was a key player of the Leipzig team which reached the Champions League semi final last season.
He has also been rumoured to be Liverpool’s top transfer target as half of their squad is down with injuries. With Leipzig ready to reject anything below his release clause of 86M it will be tough for Barca to sign him. But if they can he can do wonders.
The third and last thing the Blaugrana need to do is to revive the legacy of the La Masia academy. There was a time when almost all of the Barca players were academy graduates but nowadays hardly the academy boys get a sniff.
Riqui Puig, one of Barca’s best performers post lockdown hasn’t even started one game under Ronald Koeman. Another midfield gem Carles Alena also hasn’t started a single game under Koeman. Yes Ansu Fati is playing but there are a lot of other gems as well. Players like Alex Collado, Konrad de la Fuente all deserve to show what they are capable of. If Barcelona are to get out of this crisis then they have to use the home grown boys.
The boys with the FC Barcelona DNA. Barca have anyways lost their brand of football. The only things players do these days is let Messi do everything . Since we have already lost our brand we cannot let our academy gems leave.
It will be a humongous job for the new board to get FC Barcelona back to the topmost level. And if they fail it maybe the end of one of the worlds finest clubs.
