The Chennai pitch shows its own character from the starting of the Day 4. India resumed their innings from the 257 for 6. The spinners got the proper facility in this pitch today. The ball felt uneven bounce and a slight swing.
On the Day 4, Ravi Chandran Ashwin was dismissed by Jack Leach very early but from the other end Washington Sundar continued his innings brilliantly and resumed the scoreboard.

English batsmen started the third innings of the match with the lead of 139 but Ravi Ashwin claimed his 28 th 5 wickets haul today. He dismissed English opener Burns at the very first ball of the England innings and took the crucial six wickets of Sibley, Burns , Stokes, Bess, Archer and Anderson. Generally seamers opens the innings with ball but Captain Kohli gave the ball to his most trustable bowler in this pitch and he gave him much awaited result.
Joe Root, the danger man was starting his innings in a attacking mood but finally got out at 40 runs off 32 balls by Boom- Boom Bumrah.
The most senior Ishant Sharma finally got his 300th wicket as he picked the the wicket of Lawrence. He became the 3rd Indian to picked 300 wickets in test cricket after Zaheer Khan and Kapil Dev.
Shahbaz Nadeem got two wickets but he should careful about his footsteps. He did too many no balls in his spell which is unexpected from a spinner. England was collapsed at 178 runs
India 2nd innings:
Rohit Sharma (12) disappointed once again at the top of the order as India ended Day 4 of the Chennai Test at 39/1, still 381 runs behind in their chase of a massive target of 420 set by England. Gill (15*) and Cheteshwar Pujara (12*) were at the rescue after Rohit’s departure, stitching an unbeaten 14-run partnership off 45 balls. India, now have a huge task at their hands on Day 5 with the pitch expected to turn.
