Mumbai City FC snatch three crucial points away from Chennaiyin FC in a nail-biting tie that ended 2-1, thanks to Adam Le Fondre’s 75th winner.
It was a fast-paced match throughout with attackers of both sides being able to trouble the goalkeepers of their opposition quite a number of times. In the 40th minute, Jakub Sylvestr found the ball at the back of the net putting Chennaiyin ahead. But, their joy didn’t last long when Hernan Santana netted the equaliser home just before the half time.
From the beginning of the second half, both sides were showing great game sense and a strong will in order to prevent the acceptance of a defeat. But, Sergio Lobera’s clinical finisher Adam Le Fondre did the job in 75th minute as he found the ball the back of the net. Though in the dying minutes of the game, Chennaiyin got a number of chances to net the equaliser but everytime, they were denied by Amrinder Singh’s expertise.
It seems like Czaba Lászlo’s side is facing the consequences of Anirudh Thapa’s absence and they need to cope with the situation as soon as possible to keep their title dreams alive.
