At the end of the 3rd day Australia was lead by 54 runs. On the 4 th day both openers were in good touch.Opener Harris scored 38 and David Warner who was not good touch in this series missed a half century and scored 48. The danger man, Labuschagne who scored century in 1st innings got out by Mohammed Siraj on 25 runs.
Steve Smith scored a valuable and fast half-century for Australia. He scored 55 off 74 balls, before dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. For India, Siraj was registering his maiden five-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur took four wickets. Captain Paine and Cameron Green made 27 and 37 respectively. Mathew Wade again can’t stay many more in the crease and was dismissed for a duck.
Now, The home side’s bowling department will be aiming to add pressure on the Indian batsmen, and grab a much-needed win. For India, a draw will see them retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy, with the series tied at 1-1, but will be looking to secure back-to-back series wins in the Down Under.
In the fourth innings of the final test, India were 4/0, needing 324 runs to win the fourth Test against Australia at Gabba in Brisbane and win the series when rain forced to stop the game. Rohit Sharma was four not out, with Shubman Gill. As per weather report there is a possibility of shower on day 5 too. So, it looks like this match is heading towards a draw with India to retain the trophy.
