South African all rounder Chris Morris was sold to Rajasthan Royals by 16 crore and became the most expensive player in IPL. The auction were held on February 18.
Mumbai started the opening bid of Rs. 75 lakh for Chris Morris. RCB enters the bidding war that escalated quickly. The bid is upto Rs. 7 crore as RCB and MI go head on. RCB raises the bid to Rs. 8.25 crore but Mumbai takes it to Rs. 8.50 crore. After that MI makes a Rs. 10 crore bid. Royals have entered the bid and the bid went upto Rs. 12.75 crore but Zaheer Khan increased the bid to Rs. 13 crore. Then Punjub entered the bidding war with a price of 13.50 crore. The bid goes upto Rs 14.50 crore. Punjub Kings makes a bid of 15 crore. Moris will now be the most expensive overseas player in IPL history and the bidding isn’t done yet. Bid is upto Rs. 16 crore by kings xi Punjab. Then Morris goes to Rajasthan Royals at Rs. 16.25 crore. He is now the most expensive signing ever in IPL auctions.
He played a total of 70 matches in IPL and made 551 runs in total. His best record is in 2016 with the Delhi boys where he played 12 matches and had a high score of 82 not out and an average of 65 and had a strike rate of 178.89. He made 195 runs in total in 2016.
He bowled a total of 245.4 overs in IPL where he gave 1919 runs and 80 wickets in total with an economy of 7.82 runs. He showed his best in last year with the playbolds where he gave 210 runs in 31.4 overs with an economy of 6.63 and took 11 wickets.
