Jordyn Huitema: Will the Canadian soccer beauty feature in the playing XI against Barça?

Did PSG Féminine’s Association Football Manager Olivier Echouafni, make a mistake by keeping Jordyn Huitema benched for the whole 90 minutes?

The first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final between Paris Saint-Germain Féminine and FC Barcelona Women ended in a 1-1 draw at Stade Municipal Georges Lefèvre.

Does bringing on the Canadian star could have made the necessary difference in the 1st leg itself?

Well, it still seems a mystery that why Jordyn Huitema didn’t get any playing minutes in the 1st leg while she should have been in the starting XI. Canadian soccer beauty, Jordyn Huitema, is one of the finest women footballer of this generation.

Started her career in her hometown, Chilliwack, Huitema got her initial recognition when she signed for MLS side, Vancouver Whitecaps FC before joining French giants, Paris Saint-Germain Féminine later.

Jordyn idolises Canada’s all-time top scorer and national team captain, Christine Sinclair. In fact, Jordyn is even regarded as the most suitable successor of her idol. A receiver of Canada U-17 and U-20 Player of the year in 2017 and 2018 respectively, CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship Golden Boot and CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Boot in 2018 and 2020 respectively.

Jordyn Huitema, a complete striker and a goal-poacher by nature, is that one player whom, any coach would love to have in their team. Her vision, speed, on ‘n’ off the ball positioning and an urge to find the ball at the back of the net definitely adds up to her footballing aspects.

Jordyn Huitema

In the on-going season of UWCL, Paris Saint-Germain Féminine will be facing FC Barcelona Women in the 2nd leg of the Semi-Final stage on 2nd May. But, now the question is, will Jordyn Huitema be in the starting XI? Will she get any game time even? Last time, PSG’s right-back, Alana Cook scored the equaliser in the 21st minute to nullify Barça’s lead that came through Jenni’s goal in the 13th minute.

A forward line that included players like Sandy Baltimore, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Jordyn Huitema’s national teammate, Ashley Lawrence couldn’t make the difference for PSG Féminine. Maybe, the result of the 1st leg will make Coach Echouafni think about brining on Jordyn in their 2nd leg tie against the Catalan giants. But one thing is sure that to go to the finals, Coach Echouafni’s decision needs to be decisive and if he decides to bring on Jordyn, it will also be a big challenge for her to make it count and take her team to the finals.

Barcelona possible playing XI: Paños; Torrejón, Pereira, Mapi León, Ouahabi; Losada, Guijarro, Putellas; Graham Hansen, Hermoso, Martens

Paris possible playing XI: Endler; Cook, Paredes, Dudek, Morroni; Geyoro, Formiga, Däbritz; Lawrence, Huitema, Baltimore
