Hero ISL 2020: Sturdy Mumbai City FC take on evolving Kerala Blasters FC, as they look to go top of the table.

The first game of 2021 in the ISL, is a really important fixture for both the teams. Mumbai City FC will go to the top of the table, if if the managed to pick up all three points against Kerala Blasters. Whereas Kibu Vicuna’s men I would like to continue there good form from the last few matches and win another game on the road and place themselves on a good position in the points table. The New Year kicks off in style in Hero Indian super league, as Mumbai City FC taken Kerala Blasters FC in a promising fixture that guarantees excitement and drama.

Hugo Boumous of Mumbai City Fc

Mumbai City FC on one hand, are for sure one of the biggest title contenders, as their big signings are paying off really well in the teams great progress and stability in the league. Mumbai’s defence as well as attack, seem to be working together quite well as the team’s performance has been very balanced all throughout the league so far. Mumbai City FC’s attack seems to just get better and better day by day, as they are creating more changes and capitalising on them with Hugo Boumous pulling the strings for them and Adam Le Fondre also playing a huge role in their success.

In defence, Mourtada Fall and Hernan are leading the charge. Amrinder Singh is also doing a great job in between the sticks, as he and his defence have managed to keep 4 clean sheets in 7 games in the Hero ISL and conceded only 3 goals in total in the league so far. Kerala Blasters on the other hand, are showing positive signs of progress, after their win against the Nizams, which was their maiden win of the season so far after a winless start to the campaign.

The Blasters now have 3 defeats, 3 draws and a win after 7 matches into the season.Kerela’s defence, which has often been shaky and unstable and has made the team suffer at times, played pliantly in their game against the Nizams, especially Albino Gomez, who made 5 saves in total, and played a significant part in his team’s first victory. Also, Kerala Blasters’ back four in that game, were filled with Indian players only, a reform by Kibu Vicuna that was shocking yet exciting. But the young back four gave in their all and picked up a clean sheet. Kerala Blasters FC’s forwards Facundo Pereyra and Jordan Murray were also impressive and helped their team pick up all three points.

Their goal scorer Jordan Murray also said the following after their win against the Nizams, “The morale wasbound to improve after we got our first win. It has been a long time coming, because we have played some good football and have been unlucky in some matches. It’s a positive energy in training and everyone is looking to improve, and get nothing but 3 points against Mumbai.”All together both teams would go all in to take all three points home and this attitude means only one thing that we have a great game in our hands that promises a lot in terms of entertainment and thrill.
