Lionel Messi and Barcelona in the Champions league, a beautiful love story with a harsh ending.

After PSG’s triumphant win over Barcelona in the first leg, Barcelona’s time in the Championship League this season seems to have come to an end and could also mean Lionel Messi’s final match in the European top flight for the Blaugrana, a nightmare for Barca fans.

Barcelona lost vulnerably to the hands of serial French champions PSG in the 1st leg of the round of 16 tie played on 16th February. A Mbappe masterclass and outrageous Barcelona defending meant nothing but a slaughterhouse. Barcelona conceded 4 away goals, scored only 1 and are 4-1 down on aggregate going to the Parc Des Princes on the 10th of March with high expectations with the repetition of La Remontada, which is very unlikely to happen as miracles don’t happen often. Barcelona would have to score a minimum of 4 goals and concede none if they want to bag a win, and theses numbers being directly proportional, means nothing more than the fact that Barcelona’s defense and attack both have to pull out and absolute masterclass if they ought to go through to the quarter finals.

The above mentioned points on paper seems to be no big of a deal, but to execute them, one needs to give in their everything and hope for a bit of luck as well. These are the reasons for which it is so unlikely for Barca to pull off an incredible comeback in the second leg.

This unlikeliness comes handy with the end of a beautiful love story that football had ever seen, Barcelona and Messi together on the biggest stage in club football. A love story to saw a total of 139 goals in 148 games. Messi being the hottest name in the summer transfer window radar, has been subjected to a move to another club in the Premier League or Ligue 1. Amongst all of these Barca are En Route to another major European knockout stage humiliation, something which will completely break La Pulga and make his move to another club very likely.

Yesterday, Lionel Messi might have just played his final Champions League game for the Blaugrana in the Camp Nou. Whatever happens in the second leg, Barca fans and the whole of the footballing world wants Messi’s journey to come to a ather beautiful ending rather than such a harsh verdict. Whatever happens at the Parc Des Princes on the 10th of March, we all just hope that it doesn’t happen to be Messi’s final game for Barcelona in the UCL. If they will make through or not is rather questionable, we all hope to see a Messi masterclass and a fight never seen before, in what can be the final chapter of one of the most beautiful scripts ever written in sporting history.
