The Red Devils have finally done some work in the transfer market and have sealed the deal for Dutch Wonderkid Donny Van de Beek on a 5 year deal.
It is a high-profile move to Manchester United this summer for the Nijkerkerveen born play maker, is manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first major move of the summer window. The 23-year-old has joined in a €39 million plus add ons transfer from Dutch giants Ajax. Donny Van de Beek could now form a devastating midfield partnership alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.
While the midfielder has previously been linked with the Old Trafford side, United intensified their interest in recent weeks and have now signed off on the deal for the Ajax star. Donny Van de Beek has signed a five-year deal with an option for a further year.”I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history. I would like to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and I will always have a special bond with the club,” Donny was quoted saying by Manchester United’s official website.
The Dutch international expressed, “I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United. Everyone has told me how amazing the Old Trafford atmosphere is and I am looking forward to experiencing that, once it is safe for the fans to return.”“He added, “This team has some of the best midfielders in the world and I know that I can learn from them and also bring my own strengths to the group.
Having spoken to the manager about his vision for this team, the direction that the club is going in is hugely exciting and I cannot wait to be a part of that.”Donny will don the number 34 for the Reds of Manchester as a tribute to former Ajax team-mate Abdelhak Nouri, who collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrhythmia attack during a pre-season game in 2017.
United’s Backup Goalkeeper Dean Henderson made an unselfish gesture and allowed his new teammate to take his Jersey number. Donny Van de Beek had delayed his arrival to the Holland national team camp in order to complete his Manchester United medical. He is in the Holland squad for their Nations League games at home to Poland and Italy, but will link up with the squad later than was initially planned.
