Royal Challengers Bangalore splash BIG CASH

The Royal Challengers Bangalore will be taking the field in VIVO IPL 2021 with new Hopes and aspirations as they will have another shot at the Title .

The Virat Kohli led team which qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2021, added some huge names from the cricketing fraternity to further enhance their chances of clinching the trophy . Ahead of the VIVO IPL auction 2022, RCB retained just 12 players and released 10 players which included the likes of Aaron Finch , Moeen Ali etc. With a total of 10 slots to fill after the trading, RCB went into the auction table with Rs 35.7 crore purse remaining and a maximum of 3 overseas slots to fill. RCB had the third largest purse entering the auction just after the Rajasthan Royals and the Punjab Kings.

After releasing bowlers like Umesh Yadav, Isuru Udana etc, RCB signed latest kiwi quick Kyle Jamieson for a jaw dropping Rs 15 crores which was their biggest buy in the VIVO IPL auction 2021. Jamieson will lead the bowling attack and fill the place of a foreign quick which RCB has missed over the years . Jamieson’s height and pace along with his ability to pick wickets in the front and death will be a big boost to RCB which has been the biggest problem for them .After an exciting bidding battle with Chennai Super Kings, RCB managed to rope in star Aussie all rounder Glenn Maxwell for a wobbling Rs 14.25 crore . Despite Maxwell’s poor form in last year’s IPL, the RCB management showed tremendous faith in Maxwell to deliver a ‘BIG SHOW’ .

With the addition of Maxwell, RCB will have blistering middle order which will have Kohli, de Villiers and Maxwell in the same team and will further strengthen their batting along with batsman like Devdutt Paddikal at the top order . Another big name added to the RCBZ squad was the return of veteran allrounder Dan Christian who will be making a comeback into Vivo IPL after 4 years and RCB for whom he had played back in 2013. Christian will provide the right balance with his all round abilities considering his performance in the recently concluded BIG BASH LEAGUE where he played a valuable role in winning the trophy with the Sydney Sixers . Among the Indian names , Sachin Baby marked a comeback into RCB for Rs 20 lakhs . Mohammed Azharuddeen who smacked a 37 ball 137 in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament, was signed by RCB at a base price of Rs 20 lakhs . This was smart signing for RCB as Azharuddeen can open the batting with Paddikal and set the stage for the likes of Kohli , de Villiers and Maxwell to come. If RCB has to end their 14 year long title drought, then they will have to bowl well throughout the tournament as batting will be their key strength.
