England international Harry Kane has been linked with a £100m-plus move to Manchester City but both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on signing the forward.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he can’t rule out signing a new striker at Manchester United this summer – despite Edinson Cavani penning a one-year extension. Harry Kane rocked Tottenham this week when he reportedly told the club he wants to leave in the summer transfer window. The England international has been linked with a £100million-plus move to Manchester City, but both United and Chelsea are keen on the forward and remain linked with him.Cavani has been sensational up top for United this season and was on target with a spectacular effort in the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw with relegated Fulham at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
“We’re looking to strengthen the squad, of course,” said Solskjaer. “There are many, many, many things you have to consider when you put a squad together. “I’m not saying that if Eddie [Cavani] stays that means someone else in a forward position won’t come in.”
He added: “No, of course, I can’t [rule out signing a new striker]. Yes, Edinson signed but how many good strikers have we had at this club and I can’t say we’re not signing a striker. “Of course not because we’re building, we’re working towards a better squad. We’re top three two years on the bounce but we are nowhere where we want to be.
“So, hopefully, we end up with a stronger squad when we start next season and be more consistent and challenge the ones in front of us.” Harry Kane has been linked with a move to United for some time and the striker looks certain to leave Spurs at the end of the season.
