Kwesi Appiah : NorthEast United add Ghanaian Striker to boost their attacking prowess

Ghanaian target man Kwesi Appiah has agreed terms with the Highlanders to add more maturity to their attack.

The striker is an Ebbsfleet United academy graduate and during a short stint with the main team he found the back of the net once in 3 appearances. His next move was to League One team Peterborough United on a 3 and half years deal but was loaned out to 3 different English clubs namely Weymouth, King’s Lynn and Kettering Town until the end of his contract.

In 2010, the Ghanaian turned up for two English sides Brackley town and Thurrock having 5 caps and 1 goal under his belt.
A dream move for the target man came in when he joined Margate and scored a massive 22 goals in just 24 appearances.

Courtesy of a great run of form big clubs came calling and Premier League outfit Crystal palace signed the former Black stars international on a 5 year deal. Kwesi Appiah made just 6 appearances for the premier league side and was loaned out to Aldershot Town, Yeovil Town, Notts County, AFC Wimbledon, Cambridge United, Reading, Viking for the remaining part of his contract.

The 30 year old re-signed for League One side AFC Wimbledon on a permanent deal in 2017. His tally of 59 outings saw him register his name of the scoresheet 11 times for The Dons.

On the international front, the former Crystal Palace striker has represented the Ghana National team on 7 occasions having 2 goals to his name.

Kwesi Appiah becomes the Highlanders 6th foreign recruit of the season under new head coach Gerard Nus.
