A new ISL season, a new look FC GOA. The 2015 runner ups have given a major overhaul to their team ahead of the new season.
Under head coach Sergio Lobera The Gaurs were rampant last season but due to some difference in opinion between the board and Lobera he was sacked. His assistant Clifford Miranda managed to keep them league leaders but were knocked out in the semis by Chennaiyin.
Sergio Lobera is the new coach of Mumbai City FC and will be looking to take revenge when the two teams meet this year. Goa’s talisman Ferran Corominas left to sign for Spanish club CD Atlético Baleares- a huge blow for the Gaurs. . FC Goa have appointed Juan Ferrando as their new coach. One of the major signings to look out for is Spanish striker Igor Angulo. A graduate from the fine Athletic Bilbao academy he bagged 63 goals in 102 appearances for Górnik Zabrze in the Ekstraklasa over the past 4 seasons. FC Goa have always been playing attacking football.
They love to pass their opposition to death which is expected from a side who have been a coached by a Spanish man over the past 3 seasons. Their ideal formation would be 4-2-3-1 due to their brilliant depth in midfield. It would also be a perfect formation to stop counters as the opponents would have to cross the two holding midfielders before even trying to run at the defence.
FC GOA also recently formed a strategic partnership with German giants RB Leipzig and they will be looking to perform as well as their German counterparts. A lot of expectations are there on The Gaurs and let’s hope they can headbutt there way to the title.
