Floyd Pinto: The prodigy of preparing youth talents in Indian football

Q. In your vision, how would you like to change the grassroots level of Indian football?

Floyd Pinto : Grassroots football is something that starts from our home. It is something that we derive from our culture. The youth clubs across our country should develop the enthusiasm among the youth of our country and culture for football should be developed for the initial beginning.

We have started to walk in the right path but now, we should push forward to prepare good professional players. We have got great footballers who can now be coaches. The baby tournaments that are held all over the country parallelly contributes to the development alongside the major tournaments. It will take time but, we will surely get good results in future.

Q. Do you think that change in coaching staff, management, players, team logo and fan base has got any benefits at all or not?

Floyd Pinto : We have teams in India that are more than 100 years old. They have their own legacies without these changes. To move forward, these materialistic changes doesn’t benefit at all.

Every team has their own strategy for development. Each and every team in our country runs in a different way. Like, ATK is now giving out 5 year-contracts. Only thing needed is to be patient throughout. There is a proper ‘road map’ now which should be followed to achieve a development that is beneficial.

We should implement the plans for development but rather than criticising, we all should try to be a part of the developmental process. Infact, women’s football should also be given equal importance to achieve proper development in Indian football.

Q. Do you have any future plans to implement for the Indian football?

Floyd Pinto : Presently, the plans that I had thought of are all in vain due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. I want to be in a good role where I will be able to contribute to the Indian football with my team.

Another thing is that, I always try to learn as more as possible. Presently, there are many teams in our country, who are looking for Indian coaches and I am just waiting for the right moment or opportunity for the timing.
