Fran Gonzalez : The Mohun Bagan fan favourite and the wizard in the middle of the park, joins former ISL champions Bengaluru FC.

Fran Gonzalez ‘The Boss’ as he is known by the Mariners, who played a significant role in the title winning of Mohun Bagan last year, joins former ISL champion Bengaluru FC, after his departure from ATK Mohun Bagan.

Fran Gonzalez was born in 1989 in Cardoba, Spain and spent his youth Career with Seneca CF and also with the Spainish giants Real Madrid. In 2008, he made his senior debut with the Spainish Fourth Division club UD Almeria and played the 2008-09 season with them.

The following season, he joined the Segunda Division B outfit Deportivo de la Corina B. Fran Gonzalez also played in the Segunda Division B with the B team of Real Zaragoza, where he played for the next few years. Later, he also appeared for their first team in 2013, with whom he played against Sevilla In the Copa Del Rey. 6 months after his signing with Real Zaragoza, he left the club and joined a few other Spanish teams in the span of the next four years, before moving to Poland to join the Polish club Bytovia Bytow.

Failing to make as big of an impact with the club, in July 2018 Fran Gonzalez joined the Hong Kong Premier League outfit Lee Man, where as a skipper, on 27 April 2019 he scored the winner against Yuen Long in the finals of the Sapling Cup, to hail the first trophy in the club’s history. After a memorable time with the club, he announced his departure in July 2019 and joined Mohun Bagan, where he got the nickname ‘Boss’.

With the club, he was in his prime form, keeping the team’s defense intact and playing his share in the attack. He was one of the biggest names in the league winning squad of Mohun Bagan, he was also the joint highest goal scorer, along with teammate Baba Diawara.

It was highly anticipated that Fran would be a part of the newly formed entity ATK Mohun Bagan, after his heroics with the club last season. But to everyone’s shock, he departed from the club.

Now with his entry into Bengaluru FC, the Blues have added a great player to their squad, who promises to enhance their prowess, both defensively and also attackingly. Fran in his last few seasons, has also shown his capability and heroics by winning titles and scoring goals.

Also with his arrival, Bengaluru FC have added another great player to their terrific midfield, consisting of players such as Erik Paartalu and Dimas Delgado.
