Kevin De Bruyne was City’s Silver lining to their good-bad 2019-20 campaign.
Manchester City lost to the Reds of England, Liverpool for the prestigious Premier League title for the 2019-20 season.
The Drongen born play maker was an unstoppable force in the English Top flight. Kevin De Bruyne became the first Man City player to win the accolade. Which comes as a massive surprise considering City have won four Premier League titles in the past nine years.
Voted for by his fellow professionals, the prestigious award recognised De Bruyne’s sustained excellence last season. Which also saw him named in the PFA’s Team of the Year for the second time. The Sky Blues of England failed to get their hands on the league title to make it a hat-trick after winning the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Still De Bruyne looked in a red hot form as his top notch performances got everyone talking.
He was named the Premier League player of the season. As he got himself on level terms with French Legend Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a single season. De Bruyne also pitched in with 13 league goals from midfield. This indicates the influence the 29-year-old had on the division despite City falling short.
This performance to be the best individual campaign of his City career. The 29-year-old was directly involved in more goals compared to any other player in the Premier League.
The Belgian Playmaker also made it to a Liverpool Stars studded PFA team of the year. It included Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Skipper Jordan Henderson and Senagalese icon Sadio Mane.
