Memphis Depay is said to have agreed personal terms with the Catalan Giants and his move from France to Spain could be a matter of just a few days.
Barcelona’s Dutch mastermind is on a hunt for a new striker and has informed the Club’s no. 9 Luis Suarez that he does not count on him for the future.
Memphis Depay will become the first signing of new Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman. The Dutch international was a regular starter under Ronald Koeman and will hope he can settle quickly as the club aims to come out of a crisis and take themselves to the perch again.
Barcelona ended the last season without a trophy for the first time since 2007-08 and have gone through a massive crisis with the Argentina Great and talismanic player Lionel Messi forced to stay despite expressing his desire to leave.
The former Manchester United player was roped in by the red devils in the 2015/16 season but couldn’t make it up to the expectations for the Reds of Manchester. But, since joining the French side it seems that Depay has regained his mojo as he netted 57 goals in 140 appearances. United though have a buy-back clause but they are unlikely to activate it because they are desperate to land the English Wonderkid Jadon Sancho at the Old Trafford this season.
Reports in Spanish media claim that Barcelona might be forced to offer a Player plus Cash deal for Memphis Depay as they need to balance the books. The 26-year-old’s contract with Lyon runs till 2021 and he may leave for 27m. But that fee may be further cut down to 20m as Barca may offer their 21-year-old fullback Emerson as part of the deal.
