FIFA reveals schedule for World Cup 2022 in Qatar

FIFA on Wednesday announced the schedule for the upcoming World Cup 2022 where the host, Qatar will kickoff the tournament at the Al Bayt Stadium that has a capacity of 60,000.

The most awaIted tournament in the world will witness 4 games in a day according to FIFA. The Al Bayt Stadium will witness the opening ceremony of the world’s best tournament on the 21st of November 2022.

Al Bayt Stadium, Qatar

The local kick-off times for group matches have been set for 13:00, 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00, with the simultaneous kick-offs for the last round of group games and knockout-stage timings being 18:00 and 22:00 for Fifa World Cup 2022.

Lusail Stadium, Qatar

The final of the festival of football is scheduled to kick off on December 18 at 18:00 AST (3:30 am IST on December 19) at the Lusail Stadium which has a capacity to accommodate 80,000 people.

According to FIFA the group stage matches will go on for 12 days with an aim to provide all the teams an optimal time to rest before their fixtures.

“The tournament’s compact nature – with no air travel needed to move between the venues – will allow organisers, for the first time, to optimise specific match demands for the benefit and comfort of fans, teams and media,” said FIFA.

Luzhinki Stadium, Russia

The 21st World Cup final was the last World Cup match that saw France lifting the World Cup for the 2nd time in the tournament’s history by defeating Croatia 4-2 on the 15th July 2018 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
