Mohun Bagan and Atletico de Kolkata has now weld together to form a new name ATK Mohun Bagan.
It was announced on 10th July in the morning. It is little bit nostalgic that the name changed after 136 years of it’s rich history. Established in 1889, the club garnered it’s name due to it’s explicit players and achievements over the course of time.
“The Mariners” never fail to amaze their fans over the generations with their outstanding skills. History takes a turn when their arch rival East Bengal dabbles on the other side of the playground.
Even though the emblematic jersey retains it’s green and maroon colour, the change of name broke hearts of many Mohun Bagan fans.
Sourav Ganguly, owner of the Atletico de Kolkata club is looking forward for the incarnation of this historic team. Nita Ambani welcomed the unveiling of the new logo and said the team will make history over time. She also added that this team of India will shine among the International teams as well.
Nita Ambani who believes in investing for the youth of the country said that ATK will pave way for competition among the young footballers and hence harnessing the growth of football in India. Dr. Sanjiv Goenka the sole owner of ATK Mohun Bagan paid his tribute to the legendary footballers and sought their blessings to establish the ATK Mohun Bagan club in WORLD CLASS platform. He assured to improve the infrastructure and refurbishment for both the teams as both are associated with deep rooted sentiments.
Even though the logo changed the jersy still remains the same. The jersey is forever etched in the hearts of football lovers. Even though they become one we will vouch for ATK Mohun Bagan. Who dare snatches the love of Bengalees for football on a warm sunday evening !!
