It seems as if Hansi Flick and his Bayern Munich team just can’t stop slaughtering opponents, after the defending Champion League winners and the Treble winner from the Last season prove their dominance once again in the new season after defeating Schalke 8-0 at home.
After Bayern Munich won the Champions League, The Bundesliga and The DFB Pokal under Hansi Flick last season, the Bavarians enjoyed their best season ever, as they completed their treble for the second time and also completely scourged big teams such as Spurs, Chelsea, Lyon and Barcelona, on their course of achieving the treble.
They seemed an completely indestructible force last season. But many people thought that this season, the dominance wouldn’t be as big as last season, as the teams were now aware of their style of play and their tactics. But, Hansi Flick made sure that everyone’s assumptions were short lived as they defeated Schalke 8-0 in the first match of their new season, and started their campaign with a huge statement.
From the start of the game, almost everyone deep down knew that Bayern Munich would easily snatch a win, as they were in a great form, coming from the last season. But no one would have ever guessed that they would beat Schalke 8-0, as if they were some wannabe club.
As the match started, Bayern Munich from the very beginning started playing in their common style of play that is keeping the possession and pressing high up the ground and subsequently inside the first 3 minutes took the lead after a glorious left footed strike from Gnabry.
Then in the 19th minute, Goretzka doubled Bayern’s lead, after he scored a handsome goal directed to the bottom right corner, from outside the penalty box. After that in the 30th minute, Lewendowski, who had the form of his life last season opened his scoring from the spot. Thus the first half ended 3-0, after a dominant performance from Bayern.
After that as soon as the 2nd half began, it seemed nothing more than a goal fest at the Alianz Arena, as under the next 25 minutes, Bayern scored four more goals, with Gnabry completing his hat – trick , Sane scoring his first goal for Bayern and Muller also getting his name on the scoresheet.
Finally, in the 81st minute, Jamal Musiala who came on as a substitute scored for Bayern, thus resulting in the making of a jaw dropping scorline of 8-0. Bayern once again just like the last season won the game with a huge scorline and proving that they were on of the biggest fears for any club this season as well.
Serge Gnabry’s performance in the match was absolutely prominent as he scored 3 goals. The new signing Leroy Sane also managed to put up an quality performance as he scored 1 and assisted 2. The kind of connection that Gnabry and Sane had on the pitch, was truly commendable .Other players like Muller , Hernandez , Kimmich also played a huge role in the win.
With the kind of form Bayern are possessing at the moment, it seems really difficult for any team to beat them. Sevilla, who will face them on the 25th of this month in The UEFA Super Cup finals, have a huge task on their hands and would have to give in their all in order to beat this team and win the Super Cup.
